SNSD, singkatan dari So Nyuh Shi Dae. Kalau di jadikan bahasa Inggris namanya Girls’ Generation. SNSD berasal dari Korea Selatan. SNSD terbentuk pada 16 Juli 2007 yang dibentuk oleh SM Entertaiment.

Waktu pertama-tama terbentuk, nama mereka adalah Super Girl (versi wanita dari Super Junior-Boyband Korea keluaran SM Entertainment juga).
